IGCSE and A levels

The Secondary School curriculum at Ajman Academy builds logically on from the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) philosophies offered in the Primary School.

Inquiry-based learning is prominent as students move logically on to the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Grades 6,7 and 8. The MYP promotes research into the real world and the outcome is that our students develop into creative and reflective thinkers.

The eight areas of MYP study comprises:

  1. Maths
  2. Sciences
  3. Language acquisition
  4. Language and literature
  5. Individuals and societies
  6. Arts
  7. PE/health education
  8. Design

In Grades 9 and 10, students at Ajman Academy study the mandated Ministry subjects of Islamic Religion, Moral Education and Social Studies, in addition to Arabic A (1st Language Arabic) or Arabic B (for non-native speakers).

Additionally, students undertake two-year British Curriculum IGCSE courses which are available in:

  • Mathematics (all students)
  • English (all students)

Further IGCSE options are available in:

  • Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
  • Individuals and Societies (History, Geography)
  • Design (Digital or Product)
  • French
  • ICT
  • Computer Studies
  • Business Studies
  • Economics

In Grades 11 and 12, we offer two-year courses in globally recognised, ‘gold standard’ British Curriculum AS and A levels across a range of subjects, including:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
  • Computing
  • Business
  • Arts

Personalised and specialist student counselling is available to ensure that students and parents can make the most informed choices of subject. Ministry obligations and equivalency underpin subject guidance and appropriate consideration is given to student aspirations within Higher Education and/or the workplace.
